Shawn Duong was born on a glorious summer day in 1988 in Vietnam. He moved to the States at the age of four, where he was introduced to dance by watching videos of Michael Jackson, soon learning to imitate his robotic moves and glides that is signature of Shawn’s style today.
It wasn’t until his freshman year of high school where he began to get serious about dance. Shawn, alongside his older brother Tuan and good friend Chris Bitun, started their very own dance team called Surreal, where they would perform at their school’s pep rallies, festivals and many other events. He later joined Velocity Dance Troupe in 2003, Kaba Kids in 2005, and is now currently dancing for Kaba Modern, where he is now in his third year as a primary choreographer and Co-coordinator for the 2009 team. After all of his intense dance life he wishes to continue school at The Art Institute of California in Costa Mesa, where he would be getting his BA in Media Arts and Animation. However, Shawn still hopes to continue to dance until the day he expires.
