Born and raised in Simi Valley, Regina began dancing at the age of five due to her mother’s fears of raising an unhealthy child. Her mother’s wishes to keep her daughter active turned into a passion for her around the age of ten when she began seriously training in classical ballet, lyrical, and jazz at her local studio. Having trained at multiple summer intensives with the American Ballet Theater, she originally pursued a dream to become a prima ballerina, but quickly came to love contemporary and lyrical much more. Throughout high school, she continued to train and compete at multiple dance conventions and competitions, such as LADF, Showstoppers, and Dance Masters of America, with the SSHS Dance Team and Dance Creations’ competitive team, Terpsichorea.
Regina graduated with a B.S. in Biological Sciences in June 2009 from the University of California, Irvine. She danced with the UC Irvine Dance Team for three out of her four years, cheering and performing at all the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Games (Zot Zot!). While on the team, she was also chosen to be one of Sports Illustrated’s Cheerleader of the Week in early July 2008. She joined Kaba Modern in the Winter of 2009—a team she had admired throughout her four years at UCI.
Regina is now one of six newest members to the current KM 2009 team. She plans to continue her graduate studies in pharmacy at the University of California, San Francisco School of Pharmacy in Fall 2009.
