Darren Ryan Wong was born in Sacramento, California. He began break dancing in junior high with the sole purpose of impressing girls. With his background in the martial arts he was able to learn some basic break dance moves from the internet. He soon fell in love with the art of dance- moreso than impressing girls.

During his time at El Camino High School, Darren began break dancing more seriously. He joined the b-boy club, which at the time consisted of only 5 people. During his sophomore year, Darren was given the opportunity to train with Flexible Flav, a crew based out in Sacramento. He joined their junior team, Legendary Steps Crew, under which he would enter battles. Although he is no longer affiliated with either crew, he attributes his signature b-boying flare as being influenced by the training he received under these two groups.

Darren came to the University of California, Irvine in the Fall of 2007 to study Business and Economics. He quickly became a member of B-boys Anonymous, the UCI based b-boying crew. Following the advice of his high school friend, Victor Kim, he auditioned and joined Kaba Modern in 2008. Now a current member of the 2009 team, Darren’s innovative break dance choreography has been consistently showcased throughout his two years on the team, and is quickly being recognized by the entire dance community as being nothing short of amazing.
